Sound Therapy

Sound is vibration, and it is a penetrable force that can have a huge effect on regulating the nervous system as well as removing energetic blockages. When used therapeutically, it can help us to cope with anxiety, depression, high-blood pressure, physical pain, stress, loss and grief and even help us to transition to the next life. Ancient peoples discovered the power of healing through instruments such as drums, flutes and even their voices. The Tibetans used brass bowls to emanate stillness through the ringing of the tones. In my sessions I use crystal singing bowls , a gong, chimes and other instruments to help your body, mind and spirit rest. Nowadays sound can be experienced in a private healing session, or in a group sound bath experience.

What are the benefits of sound healing?

There are many benefits to having an ongoing sound healing practice. Much like energetic healing and meditation, sound healing can help us with resetting the flight or flight system, and is really beneficial to those facing chronic stress and illness. And although sound healing is not a cure for these ailments, many people have found relief from high blood pressure, physical pain, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD. It is incredible how rest, and healing vibrations can have such a big impact on our health.

I often recommend that folks attend a sound bath regularly, maybe once a month or biweekly if they feel their situation is chronic. The beauty of this work is that it can be done in person or virtually as well.

Group Sound Healing Session

What is a sound bath?

Many people use the term ‘sound bath’ to describe this form of group sound meditation. It is essentially an ‘extended sivasana’ - the part at the very end of a yoga class where you get to just lie down and rest. Except in the case of a sound bath, you will be lying there with pillows, bolsters, blankets, eye masks, and anything else that will help you feel comfortable and relaxed. The instruments are played to help guide you into a meditative state, or at least a restful state. The more you are able to let go, the more benefit you will receive from this practice.

A group sound healing will be similar to an individual sound healing session, it will just include 2 or more individuals.

I will use crystal singing bowls, chimes, the symphonic gong, tuning forks and other instruments to promote relaxation and rest. Group sound baths very often will include a ceremony of some sort; either a sacred despacho ceremony for the healing of a collective group, or individual (there is power in numbers), we may also come together for the healing of land, or for a blessing or celebration. Tea Ceremony is also a lovely addition to a group sound bath experience because it takes us even deeper into the experience and in this way we also get to experience the beauty and healing power of the tea plant, camelia sinensis.

Each session can be tailored to you and your group’s need. I always recommend the initial 20 minute consultation so that I can better accommodate your group.
